Chartlog

ChartLog is both a journaling and analytics software package. Its dashboard allows traders to choose from default views or create their own visual results reports with drag-and-drop capabilities. Traders can quickly view and analyse their last 14 days of trading history, see gross profit and cumulative P/L over time, and a range of other performance statistics such as profit factor, win rate %, total positions, trades and profit/loss by strategies, profit factors and win rates. ChartLog has three pricing plans: Lite at US$14.99 per month, Standard (the most popular) at US$29.99 per month, and Pro at US$39.99 per month. There is also a 7-day free trial. Lite offers unlimited trades, journal and charting; Standard additionally offers strategy tracking and a basic insights report; and Pro additionally offers an advanced insights report and custom reports. The website provides a free trading video course. The journaling software connects to over 20 trading platforms, including Ally Invest, Bloomberg, Charles Schwab, CityIndex, CQG, DAS Trader Pro, eSignal, E*TRADE, FXCM, Interactive Brokers, IC Markets, IG Markets, Lightspeed, MetaTrader 4 and 5, T D Ameritrade, TradeStation and Webull. It combines diary functions with powerful performance analysis tools. The software also offers actionable tips to help traders make targeted adjustments in their trading activities. Being cloud-based, traders can log into their journal from any device, from anywhere in the world. Edgewonk Trading Journal has a minimum subscription of one year at US$169 per year (with VAT added for EU customers), with data access lost if the subscription expires. There is no 7-day free trial. Journalytix

Produced by broker Jigsaw Trading, Journalytix is an automated trade analytics and journaling tool with a built-in real-time news feed. The many built-in tools reveal patterns in trading data that help traders understand what’s working and what isn’t. It not only includes real-time analytical information in terms of P&L and risk, traders also receive scheduled economic releases and market moving news, tailored to events that are likely to impact their trading. Major tools include the Trader Support Dashboard, Trade Journaling and Tagging, Advanced Analytics Dashboard, the Playbook and the P&L Calendar. The Trader Support Dashboard combines a real time news feed, economic release warnings, real-time economic news announcements, with charting for profit, risk and open P&L charting. Myfxbook

Myfxbook is a popular resource among forex traders that combines the functions of a trading platform, trader journal, supplemented with advanced analytical tools and a forum. It provides a spread of market data services: news, charts, an economic calendar, information on interest rates, 12 forex calculators, spreads, sentiment, a live currency heatmap, and a list of 38 specialist forex brokers. It also provides the capacity to analyse trade systems, plug in and track metrics from multiple portfolio accounts via linked brokers  to provide performance data, and share ideas with other traders. While Myfxbook is free, users must create an account and be signed in to use its journaling features. [Logged: November 2023].

Trademetria

Trademetria offers more than 30 different trading metrics that are aimed at helping users understand their trading habits, good and bad: where money is being wasted owing to poor risk management, the market conditions where better performance is achieved, and daily trading habits that sabotage success. The system has different journals for different types of financial instruments: stocks, options, futures and forex. Trades can be tracked by date, instrument, type (long or short), strategy and various aspects of performance so that results can be seen in terms of best times to trade, best market conditions, best instruments, and best strategies. The auto functions fills entries with trade statistics, to which can be attached images such as charts. In conjunction with charts, the software automatically displays buy and sell entry points on daily, 1 minute and 5 minute charts, plus the charts work with more than 2500 US equities, most foreign equities, forex and most futures contracts. Risk management metrics are also included which assist traders set stops and track targets, auto plot stops and targets on a chart, and view risk in terms of Van Tharp’s R-multiples. Trademetria can also run simulations on past trades to reveal areas of improvement, and find the best set of trading conditions to trade, with the simulations saved for further exploration. Traders can also enter their trading rules and the system will reveal the ones that are passing or failing. Customisation allows colour changes, saved filters, dashboard widgets, journal templates, data sharing, time-zones, and black or white themes. More than 2000 user-feedback features have been implemented. In addition to a free access option, Trademetria has two pricing plans: Basic at  US$19.95 per month and Pro at US$29.95 per month. Features include: multi portfolio tracker, trade analytics, back tester, simulator, charting, and personal diary, and watch lists. With highly customisable modules, TraderSync provides tailoring of trade journal data to fit the unique trading style of each trader. In addition, the software provides for the creation various trading scenarios based on journal data, allowing traders find their edge by evaluating how each strategy performed in comparison to one another. TraderSync’s Trading Market Replay Simulator allows traders to practice day trading stocks anytime within the TraderSync account. Unlike most other market replay systems, traders can make use of the inbuilt screeners, Level 2 data, times and sales. In addition to providing trade statistics, TraderSync tracks commissions and fees, allows annotations and screenshots to be added to the journal, trade sharing, and to create digest reports, compare setups, and understand the full picture of a specific report item by clicking on it to view more details. The system has different journals for different types of financial instruments: stocks, options and crypto. TraderSync connects by autosync with some 14 brokers, including Interactive Brokers, Robinhood, Tastyworks and T D Ameritrade. Tradervue

Tradervue has automatic price charts with multiple timeframes (from weekly down to 1-minute) with trade entry and exit points marked on the charts, even for trades years in the past. Charts can be annotated at the time, or later, for review. There is the capacity to make notes during the trading day, even when no trades are made. Trades can be tagged and later filtered by tag or by a range of other attributes such as financial instrument or date range. In addition to P/L statistics, analytical features include overview reports, detailed reports, comparison reports, tick-based reports, liquidity reports, and risk analysis. Trades settled in other currencies will calculate P&L data and statistics both in their native currency and in the base currency (USD) for aggregate reporting with other trades. Commissions and fees are tracked, and reports can be switched between gross and net calculations. The software includes a stock screener and a chart pattern tracker for day traders. Traders can share trades with specific groups of users, for feedback and review, or share publicly. The share function of Tradervue is particularly useful for trading firms with its customised on-boarding and mentoring, firm-wide reporting, custom URL, risk tracking, and advanced reporting. The dashboard provides a summary of the day, a recap of the last week’s trading performance, activity on recent shared trades, and even pointers to trades that others have shared for the same instruments over the last couple of days. In addition to having free access for basic journaling functions, Tradervue has two pricing plans: Silver at US$29.00 per month and Gold at US$49.00 per month, plus there is a discount for paying annually. The free option offers up to 30 trades per month and basic journaling, basic reporting, and sharing, for stocks options futures and forex. Silver offers unlimited trades per month, enhanced journaling, advanced reporting, and sharing, for stocks options futures and forex, while Gold offers risk analysis as well. There is a 7-day free trial for Silver and Gold. JustData’s EzyManager is an advanced stockmarket portfolio manager designed to make share ownership easier and more efficient. The software tracks portfolio performance, individual member and asset values, and market events. The software is designed for Australian share traders and investors, all SMSF member types, stockmarket beginners, and expert investors with larger and multiple portfolios. EzyManager is part of JustData’s suite of trading software which, along with EzyAnalyser and EzyChart, forms JustData’s trading platform EzyStation. Market Gear

Owned by iVestPlus, Market Gear is a comprehensive online trading platform that integrates many useful tools into one platform, including a journaling function, Trade Journal, which automatically recognises and tags over 60 stock and options strategies, and lets traders add notes and hashtags for sorting. Because Market Gear offers direct trading through a linked brokerage account, trade data does not need to be imported. The system recognises what type of trade has been placed and automatically tags each trade when it is executed. Compatible brokers include: Ally Invest, E*Trade, TD Ameritrade and Tradier. Market Gear offers a 14-day free trail. The journaling function uses algorithms and AI to offer learning through curated analysis of a trader’s most successful strategies, which can then be used to improve performance. The software shows whether a trade is making or losing money. Trades can be categorised by account type (live or demo) and tracked with hashtags, plus it’s possible to select a sentiment as bullish or bearish.
